The 5460W 48V Off-Grid Solar Kit with RiiO Sun II all-in-one inverter from Sunshine Solar is a high-capacity solar power system designed for properties and applications that need to generate their own electricity. With 12 high-efficiency 455W N-type TOPCon bifacial solar panels, an integrated solar inverter and MPPT charge controller, this kit provides the core components for a substantial off-grid solar installation.
Suitable for remote homes, home offices, summer houses, workshops, static caravans, stables and outbuildings, this 5.46kW solar panel kit is designed for users looking to generate renewable electricity where mains power is unavailable or limited, or where greater energy independence is a priority.
The system uses a 48V battery architecture and a 3kVA RiiO Sun II inverter/charger with built-in MPPT solar charge controller. Essential system cables, connectors, a DC isolator and an E4 LCD monitor are included. Batteries are not included and must be selected separately to suit your energy requirements.
This solar kit includes the main components required to build a 48V off-grid solar power system:
Please note: Batteries, panel mounting equipment and any additional installation materials not listed in the kit contents are not included. Check the full specification and installation requirements before ordering.
The kit includes 12 Sungrow 455W N-type TOPCon bifacial solar modules, providing a combined rated array output of 5.46kW. N-type TOPCon technology is designed to deliver efficient solar power generation, while the bifacial construction allows the panels to capture sunlight from both the front and rear surfaces when the installation and surrounding surfaces allow useful reflected light to reach the rear.
Key solar panel features include:
Actual energy production depends on the installation location, roof or ground orientation, tilt angle, shading, weather, temperature and the amount of light reaching the panels. Bifacial gains also depend on the mounting arrangement and ground or roof reflectivity.
At the heart of the system is the RiiO Sun II 3kVA 48V inverter/charger. It combines several functions in one unit, helping simplify the design of a compatible off-grid solar installation.
The integrated equipment includes:
The RiiO Sun II is designed for off-grid, energy storage and selected backup-power applications. Its suitability for a particular installation depends on the connected loads, battery configuration, PV array limits and installation requirements.
Important: The solar array is rated at 5.46kW, while the inverter is rated at 3kVA. These figures describe different parts of the system: the panel rating is the nominal DC solar array capacity, whereas the inverter rating relates to its AC power output. The inverter does not provide 5.46kW of AC output simply because the solar panels have that combined rating. Confirm the inverter's permitted PV input specifications and expected simultaneous loads before installation.
The included E4 LCD monitor provides a local interface for monitoring and controlling the compatible RiiO Sun II system. The inverter also supports compatible remote monitoring options, subject to the required connectivity, configuration and manufacturer software.
Monitoring helps users understand system operation, solar charging and power use, making it easier to manage an off-grid installation.
Sunshine Solar lists an indicative summer performance figure of approximately 455Ah per day on a 48V system for this kit. This is an estimate rather than a guaranteed daily output. Actual performance varies with seasonal daylight, weather, installation angle, shading, system losses and battery charging conditions.
Amp-hours (Ah) describe electrical charge at a particular voltage, so this figure should not be treated as a fixed number of kilowatt-hours available to run appliances. To estimate usable energy, the battery voltage, battery capacity, conversion losses and system operating conditions must also be considered.
For a more accurate estimate, assess the expected daily electricity consumption in kWh, the location of the installation and the battery storage required for periods of low solar generation.
This 5460W off-grid solar kit may suit a range of installations, including:
The system's suitability depends on the appliances being powered, their starting surges, daily energy consumption, available battery storage and whether additional power sources are required.
Batteries are not included with this kit. A compatible 48V battery bank is required for conventional battery-based off-grid operation. The battery should be selected according to the required energy storage, expected daily consumption, desired autonomy and the inverter manufacturer's compatibility requirements.
Sunshine Solar lists the TBB ES100 48V 105Ah LiFePO4 lithium battery as an option to consider. For a system of this size, the required battery capacity should be calculated carefully rather than selected on voltage alone. Confirm the recommended battery configuration, maximum charge and discharge currents, communication compatibility and any required battery protection or balancing equipment before purchasing.
You should also consider whether your installation needs enough stored energy to operate overnight or through several cloudy days. A larger solar array does not, by itself, guarantee that sufficient electricity will be available at every time of day.
